New Community Calendar sign purchased by community businesses and Organizations
The community sign was purchased when a fundraiser was established with the help of John Parola, Chief Art Roy, the Dexter Regional Development Corportation. When asked, local area businesses, organizations and clubs gave approximately $14,000 in only 2 months time. The community sign will be used for safety warnings, non profit upcoming events, etc and can be programmed up to a year in advance. If your club or organization has an upcoming event, stop by the police statiion and fill out the form during business hours.

Learn how inter-agency communication and cross-training benefits our primary mission of protecting victims and preventing violence. Annual Trout Sale Announced
Spring is the season for stocking ponds with trout. The Annual Trout Sale will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 11:30AM for customers who have preordered through the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD). Rainbow and brook trout for stocking ponds may be preordered until Thursday, May 1st.

A permit is required by the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department (IFW) for the species most appropriate for your pond. A copy of this will need to be submitted with your preorder. You will also need to bring your original to the sale in order to receive your trout. If you do not have a permit you may pick up an application for this from the PCSWCD office, download the permit application from our website, or contact the IFW at 287 - 5261 or http://www.state.me.us/ifw/. Microchip and Rabies Clinic May 10, 2008 from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Pet Motel on Route 7 in Corinna.
Rabies shots are 15.00 and Micro Chips are 35.00.
Nail trims are 5.00.
Proceeds go to Adoptions Plus to help the stray animals at the Pet Motel find their forever homes.
In order to license your dogs you must have an up to date rabies shot and it is state law that all cats must possess a valid rabies shot.

North Country Riding Club is hosting an "Equine Spring Shot Clinic" with Ronald Miles, D.V.M. of Foxcroft Veterinary Services on Saturday, May 10, 2008.

The Clinic is being held at NCRC's Show Grounds at Bud Elms Field, Old Ripley Road in Dexter starting at 9am.

The clinic is open for Foxcroft Vet's customers only. Dr. Miles said that due to the high demand for yearly shots, barn visits will be limited this spring, so the clinic is the time to get your shots early for show season.

The regular yearly shots and coggins will be provided, but no teeth floating, sheath cleaning or other procedures will be preformed. There will be no farm fee.

Please call Bonnie at 278-5897 to set up the time frame you that will work for you and to get a head count for a smooth running clinic on Saturday May 10th.

Garland Junior Grange will meet Saturday, May 10 at 1 PM at the Garland Grange Hall. Have fun learning about how plants grow and make a neat Mother's Day gift to bring home. Snacks will be served. Dexter Rec. Department - Gymnastics will begin on May 10th and run through May 31st. Time is 9AM at the Middle School for grades K-6.

Free Course Teaches Basics of Buying a Home
MaineStream Finance is offering a free 12-hour certified training course that helps potential home buyers make prudent home purchasing decisions. Classes will be held May 12, 13, 14 and 15, 5:30 to 8:30 pm, at Penquis, 262 Harlow Street, Bangor. Participants must attend all classes.
This course uses a qualified trainer and discusses the roles of various professionals involved in the home buying process, such as attorneys, realtors, lenders, insurance agents and home inspectors. Components of this course are budget and debt management counseling and credit counseling.

6th Annual Wild West Weekend
Saturday Rollar Skating
The Dexter Recreation Department is pleased to announce that Roller Skating began in October and will continue for the next 6 months.
Come by the Town Hall on Hall Street from 2 pm to 4 pm every Saturday and have great family fun of all ages.
If you have your own skates, feel free to bring them, including regulation Inline Skates, Roller Blades (not the sneaker type with the drop down wheels); limit sizes are available at the Roller Skating Rink.
Volunteers are needed to help run the concession stand, handing out skates etc, so if you could donate some time call Andy at 924-3438 for more information.
Fee is only $1 for admission and $1 for skate fee.
If you have some skates hanging around and would like to donate them, they could use all sizes. Call Andy at 924.3438 or Eric Munday at 692.2342.
Tuesdays and Thursdays - Meals for ME in Dexter
Meals for Me at the Dexter Town Hall Senior Center Tuesdays and Thursdays, serving time around 12:00pm (lunch time) at the Dexter Town Hall
They ask for at least a $3 donation, more if you can. After lunch, they play cribbage and cards.

The Diabetes Support Group at Mayo Regional Hospital has changed its meeting date to the 3rd Monday of each month, from 1-2 p.m. in the library in the hospital's Resource Center, starting Oct. 15.

The North Country Riding Club monthly meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month at the Dexter Town Hall in Dexter. Time is 6:30 pm for "Horsin' Around Chat & Snack", meeting time is 7 pm. Meetings are open anyone that has a love for horses and can be any age. You do not have to have a horse to join.

Abbott Museum & Gift Shop is open Saturday 10 - 4. for the winter. Items on display will change from time to time.

Grist Mill Museum is open in June thru the summer months. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 to 4, Saturday from 1 to 4. A visit to the Grist Mill Campus includes the Millers House and the Carr Schoolhouse; call for an appointment or more information.

The Wassookeag Snowmobile Club monthly meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of every month at the club house on the Number 10 Road in Dexter. Time is 7 pm and is open to the public.

Abbott Memorial Library holds Story Hour on Wednesday at 11 A.M.
This program is for youngsters up to age 6, accompanied by a parent or other adult. This program is free to the public and includes stories, songs and crafts. Upcoming subjects include birds, flowers, Easter and other stories of Spring.
