Dexter Historical Society presents deed Thursday, February 06, 2003
 DEXTER - The Dexter Historical Society presented the deed to the parking lot abutting the Legion's Church Street entrance at the Poulliot-Seavey Post's January meeting.
The property was part of the Abbott Museum land given to the Society by Guilford of Maine.

Tobin makes donation Thursday, February 06, 2003
 DEXTER - State Representative James Tobin presented the Poulliot-Seavey Post #53 of The American Legion a donation from his left over campaign funds.The donation will be dedicated to the Veterans Memorial Program of the

The Poulliot-Seavey Post #53 of the American Legion has had another active year in community service. The Post planned and conducted the annual Memorial Day Parade and the memorial services at the library. Military Funeral Honors were provided to five deceased veterans. The Legion and the VFW jointly purchased the flags on the light poles along Main Street. The Post shared in the cost of memorial flag holders for veterans buried in the local cemeteries.
The Post contributed financially to the new Veterans Memorial Park on Dam Street and participated in the dedication ceremony. Future plans for the park include the erection of an Honor Roll, which will list the names of all Dexter residents who served in the armed services during a war or conflict from the Civil War to the present.
Contributions to the youth of Dexter were made through donations to the following:
- Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownies
- Legion Baseball
- Totally Teens Club
- Toys for Tots
- Operation Graduation
- Scholarships to graduating seniors at DRHS and TCTC
- Banquet honoring delegates to Boys and Girls State
- Aid to TCTC students participating in national competitions
Some of the local charitable organizations receiving donations include:
- Dexter Public Health Association
- Sunshine Club
- Food Cupboard
- Kiwanis Reading Program for pre-school children
- Piscataquis Regional YMCA
- DRHS Christmas Food Drive
Veterans in Dexter and the State have benefited from a $1,000 contribution to the Beal House at Togus, where family members can stay while the veteran is a patient in the hospital. The Veterans Association Volunteer Service, the Vietnam Vets of America and the Vietnam Veterans Council's Memorial Traveling Wall also received financial support.

The Poulliot-Seavey Post #53 of the American Legion selves the veterans of the Dexter area as well as the area communities. Some of the more visible activities of the Post are the organization of the annual Memorial Day Parade and Services, proper disposal of unserviceable national flags, furnishing and maintaining flags at the Library and Cemeteries and conducting military funerals for deceased veterans.
The Post home at 15 Grove Street, with an additional entrance on Church Street, is made available for the use of non-profit organizations at no cost. Recent uses have been for the Kiwanis/ red Cross blood Drive, The Key Club Rabies Clinic and other service club functions.
Funds raised by the weekly Wednesday Bingo rallies have enabled the Post to provide donations to many worthwhile community activities. Some of these are:
- Two scholarships each to the Dexter Regional High School and to the Tri-County Technical Center for graduating seniors.
- Sponsorship of two boys and two girls, to the American Legion Boys and Girls State, and providing
an annual dinner to honor all Boys and Girls State participants.
- Purchase of computer equipment for the Dexter Ambulance Service.
- Purchase a Defibrillator/Monitor for the Ambulance Service.
- Donations to the following local and national organizations: Dexter Playground, DRHS Key Club.
- DRHS operation graduation, Dexier Public Health Assoc. Dexter Sunshine Club, Dexter Health Care, Toys for Tots, Totally Teen Club, Dexter Food Closet, Garland Recreation Committee, Garland Historical Society. Dexter Boy Scouts. Girl Scouts. Cub Scouts and Brownies. YMCA, Togus Veterans Home, New England Paralyzed Veterans, Friends of Fort Knox.
Aid to Post members in financial need.
