Code Enforcement Officer's Annual Report 2006 - 2007
Report of the Code Enforcement Officer- FY 7-1-06 to 6-30-07
Coming to Dexter Maine has been a great joy for me. I started in July, after all of the work was done for this report by Dave Pearson, when he was acting as both Tax Assessor and Code Enforcement Officer for Dexter. He truly had his plate full with both jobs. Thank you, Dave, for helping me out when I was new in the Position as Code Enforcement Officer and as I need help now.

The Code office manages all Land use Permits and Shoreland inquiries and permits, even those applications and approvals granted by the Planning Board. A total of 25 Planning Board approvals, 31 CEO Shoreland permits and the 58 Land Use permits have been given. They are outlined as follows:
  Land Use Shoreland
Residences 18 8
Garages 14 3
Dock-ramp   3
Deck 7 3
Foundation   7
Addition/renovation 8 7
Sheds- over 100 sq feet 14 1
Barn   6
Earthwork   20
Other permits were granted for commercial projects, airport hangers, signs and the town projects like the Dam and the Town Hall.

The Health and Safety Rental Ordinance requires issuance of approximately 400 rental permits each year, normally done for the December deadline; permits are good for the calendar year. If you are the owner of a rental dwelling unit, you are required to have a site inspection and a permit for each year.

I would like to invite all residents to call my office 924-7620 or e-mail townceo@dextermaine.org for any information relating to State statutes and Local ordinances, rules and standards. I am happy to do on-site inspections and my schedule is Monday through Friday 8:30-noon office hours and Monday-Thursday afternoon for inspections. I am available to help YOU.

Respectfully Submitted,
Jana Wood, Code Enforcement Officer
