This year we will be holding the event at the new gazebo at the Wayside Park. Come join us in singing some Christmas Carols, a visit from Santa and some surprises for the youngsters. Christmas baskets will be distributed to eligible families. Emergency food services are also available. The food closet serves the towns of Dexter and Ripley. Students, Boy Scouts, the Key Club, the Post Office, the Sunshine Club, Sunrise Kiwanis, VFW, American Legion, the Town of Dexter, United Way, Penquis CAP, etc. have supported the closet with monetary and food donations. Currently the closet has a high demand for cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, peanut butter, toiletries, paper goods and cleaning supplies. Donations of holiday food items including turkeys and hams are currently being accepted. Monetary donations may be sent to: First Free Baptist Church, c/o Avon Woodard, 130 Spring Street, Dexter 04930. For additional information contact Co-Coordinator Avon Woodard at 924-3056. Linda's office is taking applications from those who are seeking help through the program. Applications are available in the Town Office. Applications must be returned to the Human Services Office no later than December 20th to insure that gifts are available. The program relies heavily on donations of cash or toys from individuals, organizations and businesses. For more information regarding the Toys for Tots program and how you can help with this worthy cause please contact Linda Clukey at 924-7351. |
