Saturday, January 05, 2008
Dexter - Regina Herrick and Alyson Saunders, both science teachers from MSAD #46 Dexter Regional High School, have been chosen to receive the "Christa McAuliffe Award" for 2008. This memorial award is given annually to an individual or team who has exhibited outstanding innovation in teaching and learning. The McAuliffe Award acknowledges work that has inspired pride among other educators; represents a unique and high quality professional growth experience; and results in creative, long-lasting collegial learning.

As recipients of this honor, Mrs. Herrick and Mrs. Saunders have been awarded a check in the amount of $1,000.00 which will enable them to continue the enormous difference they make in the lives of students and colleagues. Both teachers have also been invited to the 13th Annual "Salute to Excellence in Education Gala" which will be held in Washington, DC on February 8th, 2008. All travel and hotel accommodations as well as incidental costs to attend the gala were provided by the foundation to each teacher as a token of their appreciation.

Dexter Regional High School would like to congratulate and thank both Mrs. Herrick and Mrs. Saunders for their outstanding commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
