Wayside Theatre, Rte. 23, North Dexter Call June Woodman at 924-8813 for directions and information. All interested actors, at all experience levels, are invited to come to Wayside Theatre's general audition on Saturday, January 25th at 6:00 pm. Auditions are being held for three plays: Aging Disgracefully, an original script by Skowhegan author Cathy Burns and directed by Wally Seavey; The Rainmaker, by N.Richard Nash, directed by Marcia Douglas professor of Drama at UMO; and Painting Churches, by Tina Howe, which will be produced if we are unable to cast The Rainmaker satisfactorily. Needed are: For "Aging": 4 women, age range 40 – 70, and 5 men, age range 24 – 70s. This is a comic/drama about an aging woman who refuses to act her age, and her relationship with family members who think she should. Set in the 70's. Other characters are her grandson, a young man about to graduate from college; a psychiatrist; and a man and woman who are Grace's friends and are her age. For "Rainmaker": One woman, "Lizzie," age range 28 to late 30's, dependent upon ages of the other actors cast; a deputy sheriff; a sheriff; a father and two sons; and Starbuck, the "Rainmaker", a "con-artist" who must be played as a man who is exciting, flamboyant, charismatic, expressive, and persuasive enough to change Lizzie's view of herself and her life. For "Churches": a drama with humor and poignancy about an elderly couple who are moving out of the family home, and their artist daughter, who tries to resolve her problems with her parents as she helps them pack. Her goal is to paint their portrait. This is an open audition, and all are welcome. Auditioners will be asked to fill out an audition form, and they may prepare a monologue or read selected scenes that will be provided. None of these plays is a musical, but we will be interested to hear you sing if you have that talent. Please bring your own music. All audition forms will be kept and put on our "call" list for future productions. Because of the uncertainties of the weather at this time of year, it is strongly suggested that those wishing to attend this audition call June Woodman at 924-8813 to leave your name. You will be called if the audition is postponed. |
