DEXTER - The WSC met Tuesday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. with 10 people in attendance. It has been a while since the club has posted reports on a regular basis. We have been very active and have decided to give it a try once again. Never enough time! (Hey, Bob - I hope you are reading this with a smile!) Hal Wilkins, our trusted Trail Master has been very ill and we have missed his presents at the meetings. We were pleasantly surprised to see him at this meeting. So, it was good to have him back! Hal is working on the local trail maps to be handed out. They need refreshing! Dexter's Winter Festival is at the top of the agenda. Information on the festival is posted on the site at WassookeagSnowmobileClub.com and will be in local papers. Looking forward to the radar runs. We are planning out festival details in hopes of more snow before the 19 & 20 of February! The weather this week has been gorgeous, though. The club held a sponsorship/membership drive in January to keep the fireworks display for the Winter Festival as well. A huge thank you goes to our sponsors. A small town can sure do big things when we all "chip in". We are still short memberships in comparison to previous years. Hard to convince yourself to do it, without much snow, but please think about joining. It's important in maintaining trails and good for club moral. We would love to see your name on the big whiteboard! Melvin & crew are in the kitchen Saturday's and Sunday's to take memberships in between flipping burgers and slinging soup! The boys have been out in the Tucker, that was recently purchased by the club. It's doing a super job so far. We are in need of snow on side trails but the railroad bed is good, at this point. The blue skies with warmer temps are hard to contain. The club will have a Club Ride Friday, February 4, leaving from the clubhouse on the Number Ten Road at 6:30 p.m. and returning for coffee/hot chocolate after. Our good friend and member Dolly Starbird past away in a snowmobile accident last week. She will be missed. In her honor, the club will send a check to the scholarship fund started in her name. Our sympathies are extended to her family and friends. We are wishing for more snow to freshen things up a bit. Hope I didn't forget anything! |
