DEXTER - What do you get when you mix lots of fluffy snow with a 50's theme.... a super fun and fabulous weekend! That was the setting for the 7th annual Dexter Winter Festival held February 16-18. The Festival was sponsored by the Town of Dexter, the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club and area merchants. Results were as follows:
The first annual Benefit Spaghetti Dinner/Ride-In for the Harold Wilkins Memorial Scholarship fund served approximately 60 people and raised $500.00 for the fund. Special thanks to Steve and Mandi Brown. Snow Sculptures results were as follows:
The Winter Festival Dance and Maine Military Silent Auction was the largest to date. The Auction alone raised $1300.00. A special thank you to Val & Frank Spizuoco, Berg Sportswear, Dexter Lumber, Motor Supply, A. E. Robinson Oil, Dexter Variety, Cove Side and Guilford Key Bank. The Snowmobile Parade awards were presented as follows:
The Festival was a huge success because of the many generous volunteers and folks to include: Judy Doore & Office Staff Matt & Lynn McKusick, Ray Bailey, Chris Nuite, Steve & Mandi Brown & Crew, Mike Delaware & Town Crew, all our judges, Dexter Police, Melvin Wyman, Neal Scannell & Bill Kelly, Bob Titus, Frank & Val Spizuoco and the entire Wassookeag Snowmobile Club Crew which also includes the "Late Night Clean-up Gang". If you are interested in planning and organizing future Winter Festival Events please contact Lynn McKusick at 924-5074, come to a Wassookeag Snowmobile Club meeting (1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm) or stop by the Dexter Town Office to let us know. We are open to new ideas, adding to the events and keeping the annual festival fun. |
