DOVER-FOXCROFT - Mayo Regional Hospital's business office will host an enrollment day for people eligible for MaineCare, the state's Medicaid health insurance program, on Wednesday, March 12. The hospital's patient accounts staff will be available from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. to provide information and free assistance in filling out application forms. The business office is located on the second floor of the Mayo Resource Center, the new addition located to the rear of the main hospital. Mayo's enrollment day is part of a nationwide Cover the Uninsured Week event, March 10-16, organized by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and a diverse group of national organizations that includes the American Hospital Association and the American Medical Association. Cover the Uninsured Week is designed to raise awareness of the need to provide health insurance coverage to the country's 41 million uninsured -- almost one in every seven Americans. Of that total, 8 million are children, and eight out of 10 uninsured are members of working families who cannot afford the cost of insurance. In Maine, thousands of people are eligible but not enrolled in MaineCare, which helps pay for comprehensive preventative and primary care services. The application process is easy, and Mayo staff on March 12 will provide the forms and the help needed to fill them out and enroll individuals and families in the program. For more information about the enrollment process, contact Duane Olson, Patient Financial Services Manager, at 564-4306. |
