AUGUSTA, Maine -- Those who want to hunt moose in the state of Maine are reminded that the deadline for Moose Permit Applications is April 1. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than midnight on April 1 or delivered to Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife headquarters at 284 State Street in Augusta by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1.
Applications are available at license agents and sporting good stores throughout the state as well as the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Regional Headquarters and Augusta offices.
The published dates for the Moose Hunting Season this year are October 7 through 12, 2002 in Wildlife Management Districts 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 18, 28 and 29. There will also be a split season in Wildlife Management Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 11 and 19. The published dates are Week 1: September 23 through September 28, 2002 or Week 2: October 7 through October 12, 2002.
A legal bulletin was published in state daily newspapers today advertising the published season dates and that will result in the formal adoption of these dates.
