DOVER-FOXCROFT - "Medical Acts of Tremendous Importance," an annual variety show to benefit Pine Tree Hospice, will take place on Friday, April 26, starting 7 p.m. in the Foxcroft Academy gym. The show will feature many performers from the staff at Mayo Regional Hospital, and from the community at large. All proceeds go to Pine Tree Hospice, a local, volunteer-based, non-profit organization that helps people dealing with terminal illness or grieving the loss of a loved one. Pine Tree Hospice serves individuals and families throughout the Penquis region. Tickets are $6 and are on sale in advance at Mr. Paperback in Dover-Foxcroft and Hudson Avenue Florists in Guilford. Refreshments will be on sale at the show. Hospice has already been quite successful in soliciting contributors and event sponsors. Those who have signed up as sponsors to date include Dexter Health Care, Hibbard Nursing Home and Main Street West, Lary Funeral Home, Inc., McCrory Funeral Homes/Pine State Cremation Service, Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, Penquis Orthopaedics, Dexter Internal Medicine, Dexter Family Practice, Dover-Foxcroft Family Medicine, Guilford Medical Associates, Mayo Surgical Associates, Milo Family Practice, Mayo Women's Health, Eli Lilly and Co., Johnson and Johnson, Dexter Regional Federal Credit Union, Skowhegan Savings Bank, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, and the Vegetarian Union of Central Maine. In conjunction with the variety show, Pine Tree Hospice is having a quilt raffle. A patriotic star sampler, double-bed size quilt has been donated by Memory Makers and is presently on display at Dover-Foxcroft Family Medicine. Raffle tickets are $1 or six for $5. The drawing will be held on the night of the variety show. |
