AUGUSTA, Maine -- Those who want to hunt moose in the state of Maine are reminded that the deadline for Moose Permit Applications is Thursday, April 1. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than midnight on April 1 or delivered to Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife headquarters at 284 State Street in Augusta by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, or submitted via the internet at www.mefishwildlife.com no later than 11:59 p.m., April 1, 2004.
Applications are available at license agents and sporting good stores throughout the state as well as the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Regional Headquarters and Augusta offices. You can also apply online at www.mefishwildlife.com.
This year 2,895 permits are available in 19 wildlife management districts statewide. The published dates for the Moose Hunting Season this year are September 27 - October 2 in WMDs 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 11, and 19 and October 11 through 16, 2004 in Wildlife Management Districts 1- 14, 17, 18, 19, 28 and 29.
