DEXTER - Melvin E. Wyman of Dexter announces his candidacy for District 24 of the Maine House of Representatives. House District # 24 includes the towns of Athens, Charleston, Dexter, Garland, Harmony and Ripley. I am fully prepared to play an active role in Maine government and make a commitment to not only attract businesses to this fine state, but to maintain their longevity, stated Wyman. It is not enough to invite and entice entrepreneurs, but we must create an atmosphere for them to prosper. Wyman was raised in Dexter and has owned and operated several small businesses in and around Dexter over the years. He is a Real Estate Broker at Norm Cookson Realty and owns a Trophy and sign business in Dexter. He is fire chief of the Dexter Fire Department of which he has been on for 18 years now. Wyman is a charter member of the Sebasticook Valley Elks Lodge # 2713 and a member of the Maine State Federation of Fire Fighters. He has served on the Dexter town council and a former member of the Dexter Sunrise Kiwanis Club, the Dexter Business Association. With this knowledge and expertise, Wyman plans to focus much of his energy on strengthening our schools and communities, with issues to include access to affordable and effective health care for all Mainers. Married to the former Catherine Clukey of whom is a middle school teacher at Dexter, Melvin and his wife have two children in middle school and one in high and one on his own. |
