Call to Protect: You can make a difference
Tuesday, April 03, 2007
Call to Protect In the time it will take you to read this press release, a victim of domestic violence will be assaulted by his or her partner.

If this saddens or angers you as much as it does me, you'll be glad to know that there's something you can do – and it will cost you nothing.

You know that old wireless phone you're no longer using, the one that's sitting in your drawer or closet right now? It could literally save the life of one of the more than 6,000 individuals who are beaten and abused every day.

You may have heard of the national program called CALL TO PROTECT® that collects used wireless phones to benefit victims of domestic violence. Well, now there's a way for you to support the CALL to PROTECT ShelterHelp program and make a difference locally by helping Womancare. Womancare is collecting phones through The Wireless Foundation's ShelterHelp program. The majority of the proceeds from the sale of donated phones will go directly to Womancare and we'll be able to earn CALL to PROTECT phones, additional airtime minutes, or even cash grants in exchange for the phones we collect. The more phones we collect, the more money or refurbished phones we'll receive and distribute to the individuals and families we serve. You may donate your used phone at:

Womancare office 8 Winter St. Dover-Foxcroft
Dexter Police Station
Dexter Town office
Milo Police Department

Thank you for your support.
The staff at Womancare
