PRESS RELEASE

DRHS First Annual Science Fair
Monday, April 14, 2008
Written by Kristin Coulombe: DEXTER - Dexter Regional High School held its first science fair on April 3. Approximately 165 students in grades nine through 12 competed in two project categories. The first category was a “paper research project” which covered a topic of the student’s interest and a six to eight page written report explaining the findings.

The second category was an experimental project. Students in this division design and execute their own experiments following the scientific method of inquiry. Students followed extensive guidelines and presented to a panel of judges who are currently practicing in their science professions. The science fair also included a “kid’s corner” where younger kids could experiment with the high school student’s projects hands-on. There were four places and an honorable mention in each category that could be won. The winners were put in two divisions: Senior: which included seniors and juniors and Junior: the sophomores and freshmen.
