The Dexter Key Club won three awards at convention. 2nd Place - Single Service Award for the club's Dime Drive Fundraiser for March of Dimes – Dexter Key Club raised $2,053 for the Dime Drive. 3rd Place – Project Awake Award for the club's work with Kiwanis. President-Elect, Jana Kenney, won the Sandy Nininger Award; this award is given each year t three New England District Key Club members for their outstanding service. The Key Club also took a $1,000 check as a donation to District Convention. The donation was split between Camp Sunshine, Children of Peace International, and the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Unit in Boston. The Dexter Key Club's year concluded at convention. During the 2006-2007 year the club conducted over 50 service and fundraising projects and raised over $9,400 for charity. Since the Key Club's new year has begun, they have celebrated their success in the March of Dimes Drive with the All-Hit Video Dance they won, this was put on by Z 107.3 and Chuck Foster. On April 7th, the Key Club had about 15 members help out with the Easter Hat Parade and Egg Hunt which is put on by the town. On April 15th, 20 Key Clubbers took a bus to the University of Maine in Augusta to listen to a survivor of Auschwitz who spoke about the Holocaust; the Key Club also attended the Holocaust memorial ceremony on the same day. |
