Dexter Fish & Game Association
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
DEXTER - The Dexter Fish And Game Association was established September 21, 1951. For nearly ten years, DF&G has been dormant, now, as Town Manager David Pearson stated “Dexter Fish & Game Association has risen like a phoenix out of the ashes.”

We are back and ready to share our passion about the Maine outdoors. The community of Dexter has always had that small town feel, as with many other Maine towns. Within each community is a community of people who enjoy the great outdoors our State has to offer.

If you are also one of those people who enjoy the outdoors and all the activities that come with enjoying the outdoors, we would love for you to join us.

Our mission is simple; we want to enjoy the great outdoors and all it has to offer, we want to share it with others of the same interests, and we want to pass down the great outdoor traditions to the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts for them to preserve, protect and enjoy for generations to come.

Please join us in this effort.

DF&G has recently signed a lease with the town of Dexter in order to re-open the campground located on Lake Wassookeag. The plan is to run the campground to allow people to enjoy the beauty of Lake Wassookeag and to raise money in order to hold some events for kids and adults throughout the year to learn more about what the outdoors has to offer.

We will also be participating in the first annual “Taste of Dexter” to be held July 24th, 2010. The Maine Bowhunters Association will bring their NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) equipment in order for kids to be able shoot a bow guided by certified archery trainers.

The MBA will be set up near P&L Country Market on Rt.7 near the annual pig scramble ring. DF&G has also worked with the Maine Dept. of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to get the “Wall of Shame” trailer here to educate people about how poachers steal from everyone when they take wildlife illegally.

The trailer will be located at the campground on Little Lake Wassookeag during the morning hours on July 24th.

DF&G is also planning to hold a fishing tournament that day for kids and adults as well.
