Kid's Fishing Derby June 7, 2003
Tuesday, May 20, 2003
This year we will be having the Kid's Fishing Derby one week earlier. One of our regular volunteers daughter is getting married and the other regular volunteer has a big fathers day party in the north woods, so I decided to move the derby back to the first Saturday in June this year. We can use 4 other workers to take down names and measure fish. We still have the use of the 2 ponds as in the past. Shirley Page's pond on the Corinna Center Road and Mike Roderka's pond at the end of the Dexter Airport Road. These are both privately owned ponds that are stocked with trout. Some being over three pounds each. There will be a limit of three trout for each child. The derby is for children ages 15 and younger. The derby is free but a suggested donation of $5.00 or more will go to pay for the trout. Any extra donation money will be used to give a child a FREE Life Time Fishing License. Kelvin Hartley has also donated money to give a youth age 5 and younger a FREE Lifetime Fishing License. The winners HAVE to be PRESENT at the drawing at 11:30 to win. We will keep drawing names until a winner is present. The child's parents must show proof of being a legal resident of the State of Maine.

There will be "Kid's Fishing Derby" T-shirts made by Olmsted's Printing available for a $10.00 donation to the Lifetime Fishing License project. Trophies donated by area merchants.

Bring a cooler with ice to put your fish in. Many fish are caught on bottom using worms or cut up fish.
