Sunday, June 04, 2006
RIPLEY - State Representative Douglas A. Thomas (R-Ripley) is running for re-election to a second term to represent the people of District 24 in the Maine House of Representatives. House District 24 is made up of the Towns of Athens, Charleston, Dexter, Garland, Harmony and Ripley.

"I think bringing to Augusta the experience of running a business all these years has been my biggest satisfaction," said Rep. Doug Thomas of his first two-years in office. "I was consistent in standing against new taxes and fees, consistent in voting to make Maine a better place to find or create a job."

Goals for a second term? Rep. Thomas, who serves on the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Transportation said he would keep on with his fight to have State government "Stop wasting transportation dollars and start using them to fix our roads!" In general, said Thomas, I will work toward making Maine "as good a place to make a living as it is a place to live. Also, I want voters to know I support the Maine Taxpayer Bill of Rights. I see it as the best way I've seen to control State spending and reduce taxes," said Rep. Doug Thomas.

Thomas lives in the Town of Ripley with his wife, Lynn. They have two children. By trade, Rep. Thomas operates his own retail firewood business.
