DEXTER - Dexter Muni opened in late April. Conditions were still a bit wet to allow golf carts out, however, there were a few walkers out the first week. The number of players increased as the course started to dry out and carts were allowed. In spite of the cold and rainy Spring the grounds crew have been able to get out and the course is looking green and is in great shape. An Open House and a 9 hole scramble was hosted by Gary Rees and Toni Olson on May 18 starting at 8:00 a.m. with coffee and donuts and followed by a cold cut platter luncheon. There were 24 participants in the scramble. There was a 1st and 2nd place tie with a score of 29. 1st place team consisted of: Shane and Vicky Baxter, Cliff Page and James Chabot. 2nd place team consisted of: Bill Novak, Jr., Steve Sudsbury, Bob Plant, and Bunny and Ray Ames. Thank you Gary and Toni for all your efforts and the good food. A raffle had been in place since April for a free single membership for the 2003 season. Following the days activities Donna Wallace drew the winning ticket for the raffle and the winner was Ross Morancie. TwiLight League, Ladie's League (Wednesday @9:00 a.m.) and the Men's League (Thursday @9:00 a.m.) are all underway. These activities are open to all members. The Golf Board of Directors held their first meeting of the season on May 24th. We are currently looking to fill three vacancies on the Board. If anyone is interested an application can be obtained at the Town Office. The Board actively meets the fourth Thursday of the month during the playing season at 6:30 at the Club house. An agenda will be posted a week prior to the meeting and any Dexter Muni member can attend these meetings. Your participation would be welcome. There was a 9 hole member scramble scheduled for June 1 that had to be cancelled due to rain. The event may be rescheduled at a later date. The next scheduled 9 hole member scrambe will be held at 3:00 p.m. on June 29 followed by a pot luck. Sign up sheets for these events are posted at the club house and are open to all Dexter Muni members. |
