DEXTER - North Country Riding Club held their 1st horse show of the 2009 season on a perfect Sunday, June 7th and riding coming from all over Central & Northern Maine with Judge Sherri Thornton. The near perfect weather conditions was only interrupted by “lots of dust” which the Dexter Fire Department tried to tame at NCRC's noon break by watering down the ring. The show opened with the new 2009 Nokomis graduate & NCRC member Crystal Clukey and her brother Thomas playing the Star Spangle Banner on their trumpets. The day continued with many spectators coming throughout the day to watch the show and also to enjoy food provided by CPB Food Wagon of Bradford & the guys selling ice-cream, plus Dottie from Blanket Works selling handmade horse blankets, banners and more. Over 45 riders participated, plus the grooms class, during the Equitation Show with 38 Classes focusing on everything from halter classes, English & Western classes to Lead Line for the youngest rider, draft / draft-cross halter classes, jumping and carriage classes. NCRC's remaining schedule for the 2009 is: Sunday, July 5th - Equitation Show with Judge Cindy DeBeckPre-registration forms, Rules & Regulation List and Class Lists are all available at DexterRidingClub.com. Also, check out the website for directions/map to the arena and monthly meetings. NCRC shows are held at Bud Ellms Field in the North Country Riding Club Show Arena in Dexter. Show registration starts at 7:00 am; Show time is 8:30 AM and will be held rain or shine (unless extreme conditions). All horses must have current rabies and coggins papers upon entering the Show Grounds for the safety of all horses. NCRC holds their monthly meeting the last Wednesday of the month; 6:30 pm for Snack'n Chat and 7 pm meeting time and the public is invited. We hold our “off season” meetings at the Town Hall on Hall Street in Dexter; across from Abbott Memorial Library and during show season at the NCRC Show Ring at Bud Ellms Field in Dexter.
