Dexter Class of 2008
Graduates Monday, June 23, 2008
Written by Ike Morgan: DEXTER – Pomp and Circumstance played out in the Guiski Gymnasium of Dexter Regional High School on Sunday, June 8, for the graduation of the class of 2008. Outside a warm, summer-like day awaited the hundreds gathered for the annual event.
The traditional processional of all the graduates was followed by a welcome address from Class President Gavin Cote and the salutatory address from Thomas Nokes. The senior chorus then performed The Beatles hit, In My Life.
Well over 100 awards and scholarships were handed out by Principal Stephen Bell. (A complete list of awards and recipients is available at www.svweekly.com, June 12 edition.)
Rebecca Johnson, valedictorian of the class of 2008, gave the valedictory address.
Diplomas were handed out to all graduates by Principal Bell, SupeActive Imagerintendent Kevin Jordan, and School Board Chairperson John Parola.
The class song, Carry on Wayward Son, by Kansas was performed by the entire class.
The recessional capped off the ceremonies which was followed by hundreds of family and friend photos in the halls and in the parking lot.
