DOVER-FOXCROFT - Three new healthcare providers -- two physician assistants and a family nurse practitioner -- have been recruited to work in Dover-Foxcroft and Guilford by Mayo Regional Hospital.
Andrea M. Tessier, PA-C, joined the medical staff at Mayo Orthopaedics in July . She graduated this year from the University of New England with a Masters of Physician Assistant degree, and was licensed in June by the National Commission of Certification for Physician Assistants.
A native of West Springfield, Mass., Tessier earned her B.S. in Movement Science, Sports and Leisure Studies, with a concentration in sports medicine, from Westfield (Mass.) State College. She joins Richard Swett, M.D., Skip MacDonald Jr., M.D., and William Bisbee, PA-C on the staff at Mayo Orthopaedics.
Barry L. Campbell, PA-C joined the staff of WorkWISE, Mayo Regional Hospital's occupational health program, in August. Campbell has worked as a physician assistant since 1979, serving in Maine, Oregon, Alaska, Washington state, New Mexico and Georgia.
For the past three years he has worked abroad in Egypt, providing routine care for expatriate contractors and military personnel working in a rural area of that Middle East country.
Campbell's employment at Mayo marks a return to Maine. He started his career as a physician assistant to the Passamaquoddy tribe at the Indian Township Health Clinic in Princeton, and later worked at Calais Regional Hospital.
Campbell received his B.S. in medical science from Alderson-Broaddus College in West Virginia, and his Master's of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Susan C. Chessa, FNP of Milo, who graduated this year from the Family and Community Nurse Practitioner Program at Husson College in Bangor, will join Guilford Medical Associates in early September. She replaces Stephen Richins, PA-C, who has relocated to Kansas to be nearer his family.
Chessa has been a registered nurse for over 30 years, earning her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Southern Maine. She has worked at Mayo Regional Hospital, Community Health and Counseling Service, and Eastern Maine Medical Center. She also has a Master of Education degree, and has taught in the Husson College nursing program since 2002.
The Guilford practice will also continue to be staffed by Haldor "Peter" Barnes, M.D., George Kousaie, M.D. and Lisa Bartley, FNP.
