The tournament is an important fund raiser for the YMCA and supports a range of Y programs and operational requirements. The event takes place at the Dexter Municipal Golf Course, Foxcroft Golf Club in Dover-Foxcroft and Piscataquis Country Club in Guilford. Golfers play the course of their choice and tee times are arranged by the participating courses.

The entry fee is $40 per person, or $150 per team. Single players are invited; foursomes will be arranged prior to the day of the tournament. Registration is permitted until the 8 a.m. tee off deadline on Sept. 4.

The winning team at each of the three courses on Sept. 4 gets the chance to play in an 8 a.m. playoff on Sunday, Sept. 5, at Piscataquis Country Club. The playoff winner will receive a Traveling Trophy for the winning club.

Each registered player in the tournament will receive tees compliments of Pride Mfg., one sleeve of golf balls, a chance to win prizes for nearest to the pin and straightest drive. Players who pre-registered by Friday, Aug. 27, are eligible to win special hole-in-one prizes of $10,000 and $1,000 for designated holes.

The top three teams at each course will receive merchandise and merchandise certificates.

There will be special raffle prizes, at $5 for three chances, for Moosehead furniture, golf getaways at Maine courses and more.

The YMCA golf tournament was first organized in 1991 through the leadership of the late Edgar “Bud” Prouty and other area business leaders.
