Thursday, September 08, 2005
DEXTER - Buie School of Drumming held a free African Drumming Tam Tam demonstration on Tuesday evening, September 6th, at the beautiful Wayside Park Gazebo on Lower Main Street in Dexter. About a dozen people from children to adults, both men and women joined in on beating on the African drums lead by Buie School instructor Lauralyn Buie and some of her students.

People from the audience were into to join them in the Gazebo and learned the basic rhythms of African Drumming. There were about a dozen people in the audience who cheer us on and gave encouragement to the new drummers.

The Buie School of Drumming holds classes in Dover-Foxcroft and soon to be in Dexter on Thursday nights. If you would like to join a class, call Lauralyn at 564-5168. No experience is necessary. African drumming not only is fun, but also helps build left & right hand coordination, renews brain paths, creates rhythm and more.

During Wild West Weekend this year, Buie School of Drumming performed on Main Street in Dexter and were a big hit. Mesmerizing was a word used a lot by listeners. Drummers range in all ages.

For more information on joining a class or for booking a performance, call Buie School of Drumming at 564-5168.
