DEXTER - Plans are now underway for a town-wide effort next month to help Dexter residents button up their homes for the winter. The "Weatherization Weekend", sponsored by the Dexter Energy Committee, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11 and 12, Columbus Day weekend. During the weekend, volunteers will be going door-to-door to distribute and install plastic storm window kits. Anyone who would like to be sure to have their house added to the list of homes canvassed should call Jean Jacobs at the Dexter Town Office at 924-7351 as soon as possible. Members of the Key Club from Dexter Regional High School will be assisting at the weekend's event. Any group or individuals who would like to help out or who can help serve and provide food for the canvassers should call Lorraine Gelzinis at 924-5990 as soon as possible. Monetary donations are also needed to help with the Columbus Day weekend event, as well as to help fund future weatherization projects for residents. Donations to the Dexter Weatherization Fund can be dropped off at the Dexter Town Office or mailed to the Town of Dexter, 23 Main St, Dexter, ME 04930. More information on the weekend is available by calling Ruth Fogg or Ron Apel at 207-924-0180. |
