DEXTER - Country Jim Palmer of Corinna and his cousin Paula Kaiser of Fayette won three duet awards on their original compositions. They took two first place awards for Traditional Gospel Duet and Folk Duet. They also took a second place award in New Country Duet for The Down East Country Music Association award show held at the Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls. They competed in June in the three categories at the Irving Tanning Community Center in Hartland. Country Jim and Paula met several years ago at The Country Folk Theater in East Dixfield but had no idea they were cousins! They had an excellent summer performing at several fairs and the Apple Pumpkin festival in Livermore Falls. Paula has her own band called “Off The Hill” and she also works with the band “Stained Glass.” Country Jim also has his own band called “Triple Threat.” You can hear Country Jim Palmer at the Fryeburg Fair and the duo will perform together at the VFW in Jay for a benefit show on Sunday, November 14th. Country Jim and Paula will be traveling to Tennessee in March to compete and represent the state of Maine at the Country Tonight Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN for the North American Country Music Association National/International. Since they can only represent the state in one category they’ve decided to enter as New Country Duet. For more information please call Country Jim at 924-7111. |
