DEXTER - A fresh supply of dried and candied fruits as well as nuts are filling the grocery store shelves once again. Staff members at the Abbott Memorial Library in Dexter have been told by a local baker that she has already assembled and baked her fruitcake for this year's Fruitcake Fancier's Bake-Off. As all fanciers know fruitcake always tastes better when made several weeks, or even months, before serving. On Saturday, December 8th, library staff will be slicing and serving fruitcakes baked by area bakers as part of the library's Fifth Annual Fruitcake Fanciers Bake-Off. Prizes will be award for First Place ($25), Second Place ($15) and Third Place ($10). If the winning recipe comes out of a cookbook owned by the library, the prize money will be doubled.
