DEXTER - Dexter Regional Development Corporation is please to announce that most Main Street and area businesses stayed open until at least 7 pm last night (Thursday) and will continue now through the end of 2003 and see how it goes. It was delightful to see the Main Street lined with cars and people in the evening hours last night with music quietly playing in the background on the Main Street, provided by Town Manager Bob Simpson. Remaining open late on Thursdays is to accommodate area residents who normally don't have the opportunity to do business during the regular operating hours. As we know, many of our residents now work out of town and do not have an opportunity to shop in Dexter during the week. DRDC, local officials & business owners invite and encourage Dexter businesses and services to stay open longer on Thursday nights as a convenience to shoppers until at least 7 pm, some are open until 8 pm. Participating businesses to date are, Dexter Print Shop, Brick Alley Ice-Cream Parlor & Gifts, Country Charm Gifts on Lower Main Street, Renys, Dexter Town Office, Mr. Paperback, Rent A Center, Tillson True Value and Radio Shack, Scavengers, Dollar Store, Toots, Dexter Variety, Buds Shop'n Save, Misty Blue Tack Shop out on the Shore Road, Dexter Cafe, P & L Market, Babcock's Collectables & Gifts, Lakeshore Lunch. To continue late night Thursdays, please shop locally and show your support. If you are a business or service in Dexter and would like to join this initiative, please contact Judy Wilbur Craig, 924-3067 or email. |
