DEXTER - The University of Maine Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. Curvin Farnham, and Dexter High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Ted Nokes, will be presenting a concert at Dexter High School on Friday, November 20th, 6:30 p.m. in the DRHS Gym. Admission is free. This promises to be an exceptional evening of music. The University ensemble is approximately 70 members strong, all of whom have auditioned for entrance into the group. Last April, they performed for the first time at Symphony Hall in Boston to rave reviews, and they regularly tour throughout Maine and southern New England. Two Dexter graduates will also be performing as members of the ensemble. Michael Nokes, a senior music education major on trumpet, and Thomas Nokes, a sophmore performance and education double major on trombone, are members of the Symphonic Band, as well as performers with the University jazz band and orchestra. They both are also members of the Queen City Big Band from Brewer. Other local students in the ensemble are Andrew McLaughlin, a graduate of Central High School and Garrett Artman, a graduate of Guilford High School. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. All are welcomed to attend! |
