DEXTER - Local police were successful in recovering some of the approximately 15 street signs that were stolen from locations in town over the past month. The street, directional and snowmobile route signs were removed, and in some instances the posts were destroyed, according to town officials. The damage was estimated at more than $600. Sgt. Jim Emerson of the Dexter Police Department said Monday that about six signs had been recovered and an arrest was expected in the near future. One of the signs was found in a Dumpster and the others were found in a local residential garage, he said. An anonymous person donated funds for a reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the thefts. Emerson said he was unsure whether anyone had come forward to claim the reward. |
