DEXTER - Girls from Tri-County Technical Center (TCTC) attended “Totally Trades,” a workshop for high school girls, on November 7, 2008 held at United Technologies Center (UTC) in Bangor.
The workshop offered opportunities for girls to explore and build skills during hands-on workshops in various trades and technologies. The expo was designed to introduce women and girls to the trades and the potential these careers hold for women in the state of Maine. The day long program included workshops and demonstrations on a wide range of skills, from welding, machine tool and crane operation to bridge construction, firefighting, masonry, and many more non-traditional occupations for women to explore! The day provided opportunities to meet women in a variety of fields, gather information about career possibilities, watch a Fashion Show-“Tradeswomen on the Move,” and participate in a Bridge Building Competition.
