The cover of this year's Annual Town Report depicts the newly constructed bridge across the Mill Stream near the center of Dexter's business district. The bridge is the result of the imagination and determination of a young man named Kyle Wilson, who was seeking a community project as part of his effort to achieve an Eagle Scout rating. The project, which began more than a year ago, came to fruition this last summer with the actual construction of the bridge. However, before the first piece of lumber could be put in place a huge amount planning, fund raising, meetings with town and state officials, and coordination with contractors and volunteers had to be completed. As the weeks went by this summer we all watched as the bridge took form. At times we had our concerns, but Kyle and his many friends and volunteers made it all come together by late August. The new covered bridge is now in the center of the Dexter Historical Society's Museum complex, and it quite effectively connects the municipal parking lot and museum to the Wayside Park. The new bridge brings a fantastic new addition to the central business area of Dexter and was completed just in time to help celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Dexter Historical Society. We'd like to once again thank Kyle for his vision and determination to make this dream a reality.
