The Town of Dexter, area residents, clubs & organizations had a great turnout for the 2nd Annual Winter Festival 2002. Friday began with the creation of 12 snow sculpture entries being built thru the evening hours. Town Manager Bob Simpson was on hand with generator for lighting, and hot chocolate for the 'sculptures' until late hours on Friday night. More building continued on Saturday with judging results to be announced at the Snowmobile Parade on Sunday. Cash prizes and trophies were awarded in several categories to the 12 snow sculpture participants, as well Radar-Run contestants on Sunday. The Radar-Runs, hosted by the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club drew a huge crowd at the Lake Wassookeag Recreation Area off Route 23. Also on Saturday, The North Country Riding Club provided "Sleigh Rides" by Floyd Annis J & S Horses & Livestock which they said was a success. Rides were given at the Dexter High School football field. The annual WinterFest Dance was held at the K of C Hall and was sponsored by the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club in Dexter with a great attendance..
